    • @TulilaSalome
      @TulilaSalome 8 лет назад +17

      +No Bueno Yeah why did they not go to Mars, instead of building a vastly expensive space station? Sure, Mars is cold and somewhat crappy, and yes, I would explore exoplanets if someone offered a ticket through a wormhole - but that minuscule space station at the end that might hold less than one millionth of humans, was surely just taking the piss. At least Mars exists. You don't need to build it, just put large biodomes on it. In fact if you can do it why not on the Moon? Or - Earth? Missile silos? Tankers? Underwater colonies? (Not that a fungus that eats everything from algae to wheat is even possible to start with but yeah, premise - Shhh! Don't talk about climate change!!)

      +TulilaSalome you do know that space station wasnt the only one they made, otherwise it would not be so loosely condensed in terms of population. In the end they found "the answer" to make space travel so convenient and easy they could spend little resources to get plenty of those up and going.

      I think it's more along the lines of when we step up and take the opportunity of saving ourselves God will help us in mysterious, unexpected and crucial ways, especially when it implies love (the action of doing good without expecting anything in return). This is shown when he sacrifices himself to save Anne Hathaway and the higher power grants him the possibility of contacting his daughter in the black hole, which makes no sense at all because physically a black hole is a concentrated lump of mass, not a literal hole. The opportunity of saving ourselves is the wormhole the higher beings create. The movie revolves around the Spanish saying "we propose, God disposes", a saying which the Catholic Church is very fond of.

    I don't mind sci-fi movies making up what might or might not be beyond or inside a black hole, that's where the imagination comes in for the writers, a lot of times it's interesting. But as soon "Love" or "God" comes into place trying to explain away the unknowns, I lose interest.
    "Red Planet" totally screwed up it's own potential with two characters and a few lines.

    • @HeadsFullOfEyeballs
      @HeadsFullOfEyeballs 8 лет назад

      +Ohem1 I sometimes wonder if you _have_ to include dumb woo-ey themes like that to get Matthew McConagenahenannenny on board. True Detective also had that completely out-of-character "finding god" scene at the end.

      The thing is, though, the whole "Love" and "God" stuff is basically just metaphorical in this case. Love does have an effect on how the characters act, as it should, but it doesn't really affect the plot in any other way.

    • @BardicLiving
      @BardicLiving 8 лет назад +2

      I believe in love and God but I agree, when they get heavily involved in sci-fi it tends to wreck the story.

    • @BardicLiving

      True, but the way the characters harped on it killed it for me. It's a common Nolan problem: too much symbolic dialogue.

    I love Interstellar, the space ship scenes are like physics porn. I thought all the talk about humans only protecting themselves was a bit depressing, especially because in the end we learn that there are no helpful aliens (like we assumed) but instead we were just looking out for ourselves. I'm glad to hear that that idea was subtly rejected. Also, I found the love mono-log a little out of place. Does Mat Damon represent Judas then?

    Can I just say that the best part of this series (really the one thing making me come back, because otherwise the pacing is a little slow and has a hard time competing with HISHE, Honest Trailers and "Everything Wrong With"), is how you insert numerous little (believable) errors in Garex Wormuloid's interpretation of the artifacts/data he's uncovered from Earth's past. Like, 5 seconds into this sequence, he misidentifies the name "Hurricane Sandy" as a literal sandstorm. It's stuff like that that makes this gold. Keep being clever about it.

    senior brand's love for his daughter caused him to lie to Cooper in order to save his daughter.
    mann's love for himself and his legacy defined his Judas like actions.
    Cooper loves his daughter but he loves the unknown more. He's a test pilot, a sailor/venturer. Main reason why he leaves his daughter so quickly and doesn't even ask about his son. his daughter speaks of brand but those are not his words nor his intentions. The film cuts to his smile against space, against the dark void and the multiplying unknown...that is where his true love is

      I so remember this scene that pretty much sums it up what msg LOST is trying to tell.
      *"There are very smart man among us, man who are curious about how things work"* = Scientists, skeptics..
      *Discovery and studies of "metals behave strangely"* = science
      *Leaving the island* = Throw away religion
      *People who want to leave the island* = People who don't have religion, don't want a religion or left a religion.
      and of course, *"they are greedy, manipulative, untrustworthy & selfish"*
      Disgusting, it just shows how despicable, bigoted & desperate this bunch of religious people are.
      Oh and notice how the MIB is always in black and jacob is always in white.

    Interstellar in a nutshell:
    -We, the people of Earth, have the ability to figure out the physics of a wormhole and use it to travel interstellar distances.
    -we can't colonize the moon for shit.
    -the answer to the inter-dimensional travel,.... is love.
    like, what the fuck men?
    was the scriptwriter high when he wrote the move? wtf?

    • @TheBigYC
      @TheBigYC 8 лет назад

      +onehandyguy I hate the ending but I'm not getting how did you end up with "the answer to the inter dimensional travel is love"

    • @bcn1gh7h4wk
      @bcn1gh7h4wk 8 лет назад +1

      TheBigYC
      they state that _in the movie_
      like, literally.
      it's not something that's hinted or anything,... it's literally presented as _the_ answer.

    • @afriendofjamis
      @afriendofjamis 8 лет назад

      That was my big issue with it too, it was awesome and visually stunning they should've gone more on the science and less on the love bullshit :(

    • @sada0101
      @sada0101 8 лет назад

      +onehandyguy -There is no physics of a wormhole. You just get in and get out the other side. You don't have to do a thing.
      - Colonizing is not easy and you choose moon ? Even when mars is the best choice?. Mars is the best choice IF we have earth. Mars alone doesn't have the resources (you can't grow anything there as it has to be from earth, and that was the current problem on earth) and it doesn't have water.
      - They don't say love is answer to inter-dimensional travel, like ever in the movie. Here i even give you the quote what was actually said.
      "Love isn’t something we invented. It’s observable, powerful, it has to mean something… Love is the one thing we’re capable of perceiving that transcends dimensions of time and space."
